LLOYD CROSS
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

How I became involved in dogs

Dogs have always been a passion of mine. Since I was young I’ve always loved animals — both learning about and taking care of them. I began showing and breeding in partnership with my mum at the age of 18 after working for one of the country's top breeding and training kennels. We established our renown kennel of Standard Longhaired Dachshunds in 1978 after owning many different breeds including among others a lovely Scottish Terrier. We very quickly became very successful in the show ring and to date have owned/bred 12 Standard Long Haired Dachshund Champions both in the UK and overseas. Both Standard Long Haired and Miniature Smooth Haired puppies are sometimes available following many years of careful selection of breeding lines to ensure excellent health, breed type and temperament. I continue to be be asked to judge at numerous top dog shows both in the UK and overseas. Hair of the Dog opens in the Autumn of 2017 and will give me the opportunity to share my love of animals with my clients and hopefully many new pet owners. I hope I get the chance to meet you and your lovely pet soon.

“'Yank' was my first UK Champion and was a top winner and one of very few of his variety to win the Hound Group at an All Breeds Championship Show - his Sire was an American Imported Dog - Yank went on to sire many champions and is found back in the pedigrees of many of today's winning Standard Longs.”
